Sensor IT Now Part of Digital Catapult’s Future Networks Lab

Sensor IT is proud to be the newest member of Digital Catapult’s Future Networks Lab. Our Air Quality Monitor (AQM) is now on display and actively used at Digital Catapult’s office. Digital Catapult is an organisation set up by Innovate UK to promote research and development through business-led collaboration between scientists and engineers to take advantage of market opportunities. It has created a facility that unlocks value for industry by enabling collaboration, experimentation and demonstration of the potential of these new and exciting technologies at scale. Located in London, the Future Networks Lab is one of the first facilities in Europe specifically designed with a focus on IoT and 5G technologies. Digital Catapult partnered with Siemens, IBM, Arrow and Service to support the UK’s dedicated facility for leading-edge network technologies: the Future Networks Lab. Our AQMs are valuable tools for everyone in the office to ensure optimum health and safety standards especially nowadays as we return to workspaces in the age of COVID-19. The units deployed are actively making use of our IoT real-time Dashboard, where actionable data is available to system administrators and users. Air Quality Monitors Targeting Covid-19 Prevention

We shipped out a new batch of fully customisable Air Quality Monitors, designed to target COVID-19 safety applications from the UK to the US and EU. These are designed to target COVID-19 safety applications and have been fully developed in the UK in our offices. We are hoping to introduce these across the UK to make schools, workplaces and other public spaces significantly safer especially as COVID-19 restrictions ease and we return to normality.

Sensor IT Develops a Wastewater Monitoring System

We will lead the development of a pilot targeting wastewater management in Kenya. The consortium includes long-term partner Velocity RDT, another UK cutting-edge IoT, company and Kenyan-based water consultancy, GreenWater. We are grateful to Connected Places Catapult (CPC) and Innovate UK for the opportunity to make a difference and export UK technology to other parts of the world. We are optimistic that our system will help maximise and streamline water utility operations related to a scarce and valuable resource. You can find more information on the project here. If you require more information, please do not hesitate to contact us on info@sensorit.co.uk.

Delivery of PPE to the NHS

We decided to support Sensor IT’s local hospital, the Royal Free Hospital in London. We were still a bit dubious as to whether we could simply provide PPE upon arrival, however, it was evident that there would be few hurdles: the nurse minding the A&E ward wasn’t even protected with a visor. The staff expressed considerable gratitude for the face shields we provided. This was truly inspiring as healthcare workers sacrifice their livelihoods every day without the necessary protection.  Please note, all PPE made and supplied by Sensor IT was donated to the NHS at no cost.  We decided to come up with our own design since we wanted to bring the print time down as much as possible. Our face shields can be produced on a quick turnaround, taking only 1.5 hours to make. These face shields are also easier to assemble as they contain foldback clips, instead of drilling holes on the shield, as other designs do. All shields were individually disinfected and placed in individual bags before delivery. Sensor IT is truly grateful to all frontline workers during the pandemic and we took great pleasure in supporting the NHS as much as possible. We will happily expand our PPE provision campaign to other sites, so please do get in touch with us on info@sensorit.co.uk.

Sensor IT presents a Bicycle safety prototype

Sensor IT was invited to a ‘speed-dating’ session with Highways England in which we presented our bicycle safety device to Highways UK for their 2018 Intelligent Infrastructure Challenge. Highways UK is a key event for the people and organisations involved in the planning, designing, building, operating and future-proofing of the UK’s road network. This was a great opportunity to integrate our prototype with Cooperative Intelligent Transport Systems (C-ITS) and Connected Autonomous Vehicles (CAV) ecosystems. For more information, contact Richard Gonzalez, Sensor IT UK Director, at richardg@sensorit.co.uk.
