Bed Occupancy Sensors

We have recently designed a sensor that attaches to care home residents’ beds, helping to minimise risks of injuries and falls by residents, particularly at night when they are sleeping.  These wireless, non-wearable sensors operate using a Doppler radar that detects micro-movements of the human body such as a heartbeat or breathing. Doppler technology uses the frequency spectrum within mmWave, and in our case, we are using radar with a frequency of 60 GHz. Importantly, mmWave frequencies are non-ionising and have frequencies that are much lower than those used by mobile phones, which prevents their penetration into the human body. The frequency detected by the Doppler radar is used to measure velocity and the data is transmitted to the user interface.  Care home personnel can then use the information displayed to monitor residents’ health and safety by assisting those whose movement is undetected. This helps overall healthcare management in healthcare facilities. These devices will be wholly manufactured in-house by Sensor IT as we value creating sustainable and innovative solutions from the ground up. We intend to deploy them in the long run in public healthcare facilities. Air Quality Monitors Targeting Covid-19 Prevention

We shipped out a new batch of fully customisable Air Quality Monitors, designed to target COVID-19 safety applications from the UK to the US and EU. These are designed to target COVID-19 safety applications and have been fully developed in the UK in our offices. We are hoping to introduce these across the UK to make schools, workplaces and other public spaces significantly safer especially as COVID-19 restrictions ease and we return to normality.

Delivery of PPE to the NHS

We decided to support Sensor IT’s local hospital, the Royal Free Hospital in London. We were still a bit dubious as to whether we could simply provide PPE upon arrival, however, it was evident that there would be few hurdles: the nurse minding the A&E ward wasn’t even protected with a visor. The staff expressed considerable gratitude for the face shields we provided. This was truly inspiring as healthcare workers sacrifice their livelihoods every day without the necessary protection.  Please note, all PPE made and supplied by Sensor IT was donated to the NHS at no cost.  We decided to come up with our own design since we wanted to bring the print time down as much as possible. Our face shields can be produced on a quick turnaround, taking only 1.5 hours to make. These face shields are also easier to assemble as they contain foldback clips, instead of drilling holes on the shield, as other designs do. All shields were individually disinfected and placed in individual bags before delivery. Sensor IT is truly grateful to all frontline workers during the pandemic and we took great pleasure in supporting the NHS as much as possible. We will happily expand our PPE provision campaign to other sites, so please do get in touch with us on info@sensorit.co.uk.
